Selecting your new hot tub and arranging the hot tub delivery is only the beginning of the process. That’s because even though you’ve spent time looking over the best hot tubs out there, you now have to prepare your home for the installation of your new amazing home spa.
Chances are, this is the first time you’ve purchased a hot tub, so you may not know exactly what you need to do when it’s delivered.
Here’s a checklist of everything you need to do to prepare your home for hot tub delivery.
1. Pick a Location Before The Hot Tub Delivery
Chances are, you already know exactly where your hot tub is going to go before the hot tub delivery. If you don’t, however, you need to pick a location. In most cases, you’ll want it conveniently located so you can easily walk to it and can easily hook it up to your home’s electric system.
You also want to have easy access to a water hose so you can fill the hot tub. You’ll want to be sure you have the measurements of your new hot tub so you can make certain that it will fit and that you’ll be able to get around it to get in and to access the pipes and other components under the hot tub.
2. Ensure You Can Get The Hot Tub Into Your Backyard
Next, measure your gate and side yard to make sure there’s enough space to wheel the hot tub in. Normally, it will be on its side, so that will help. However, if you have very little space on either side of your house, it may not fit.
Fortunately, hot tub installers are used to this, and many have access to a crane just for these occasions. Alternatively, you can also take down a part of your fence as well. It’s good to know if the hot tub will fit before the delivery date, though, so the installer knows what they will need to bring.
3. Prepare The Space
Before you buy a Sundance® Spas hot tub, you will want to learn a little bit about what the hot tub needs to sit on. You can’t simply install one on the grass or dirt. Instead, you need to have a solid surface for your hot tub because it will become very heavy when it’s full of water.
You don’t want it sinking into the dirt because of this. When a large hot tub is full, it can weigh over 5,000 pounds!
The base you build needs to be made from concrete, pavers, or a deck. It also needs to be perfectly level and have the correct depth. In most cases, you’ll want to work with an experienced concrete company or other construction crew to have this hot tub foundation professionally installed.
You’ll also need to contact an electrician to arrange to have the necessary electrical wiring run to your hot tub.
